The Agency for Legal Transport and Real Estate Brokerage (APN) received 1,806 applications by noon on Monday from all ten credit institutions - banks with which contracts for the provision of subsidized housing loans were concluded, the Ministry of Construction and Spatial Planning reported.
Croatian citizens who are not over 45 years of age and who, as well as their extramarital partners, spouses and informal life partners, do not own real estate or who own only one property, but sell it for the purchase of a larger one, can apply for subsidized loans.
APN began receiving applications to subsidize housing loans on September 4.
Subsidizing housing loans includes Croatian Postal Bank, Erste&Steiermaerkische banka, Podravska banka, OTP Bank, Zagrebačka banka, Privredna banka Zagreb, Splitska banka, Karlovačka banka, Istarska Kreditna banka Umag and Raiffeisenbank Austria.
In mid-September, the Minister of Construction and Spatial Planning, Predrag Štromar, said that funds had been secured for at least 1,900 loans.
He urged those citizens who have some administrative problems to supplement the applications because the law stipulates that incomplete applications are not rejected, but rather the completion of the documentation is required.
He also said that that line of credit would not close until more than 2,100 applications had been collected.
