The inspiration for this column again comes from practice. The story begins with the good intentions of parents to ensure the future for their children. As it is known Croats love to own real estatebecause they perceive it as absolute security. However, it is less well known that almost every parent tries to provide this security to their children.Previously, this was only addressed after the death of the parents when the children would accept the inheritance as legal heirs and continue to take care of it. But because of such inheritance and unsettled legal relations related to these properties, a number of subsequent generations usually also had problems. It used to be that a handshake and a cash payout was enough and the property would be transferred from seller to buyer. What papers, what registrations, what ownership checks, none of it mattered because, as was thought then, “we gave each other a hand!”.
